Members of the Yonkers Department of Public Works rescued ducklings from a disaster.
They say nine baby ducks had fallen into a catch basin on Scarsdale Road at Lindbergh Place.
Officials said neighbors in Crestwood could hear them chirping in distress.
Three workers put a ladder down into the basin and one of them climbed down to the bottom to get the ducklings to safety.
They were later reunited with their mother at a nearby brook.
