A Yonkers doctor is accused of illegally distributing tens of thousands of oxycodone pills to some people who never even visited his office for a checkup, including one in prison.

Dr. Nadem Sayegh, who owns the Broadway Medical Services practice on South Broadway, is a well-known endocrinologist who sits on Mayor Mike Spano's health advisory board.

Sayegh was arrested as part of a statewide crackdown by the federal government.

Sayegh comes from a politically prominent Yonkers family with relatives that include a candidate for the state Assembly and a president of the Yonkers City Council.

He and six other medical professionals were indicted. Pharmacist Marc Klein has been accused of filling out illegitimate oxycodone prescriptions from his White Plains pharmacy. Those same accusations were made against Dr. Sayegh.

The indictment says in exchange for those prescriptions, Dr. Sayegh was given an all-expense paid trip to Puerto Rico, a free cruise and high-end whiskey.
