While it seems like the developers won the battle of Ridge Hill when the Yonkers City Council voted to approve the project, there are still many roadblocks ahead.
The Yonkers Industrial Development Agency tackled the issue of traffic Thursday. The city is trying to acquire nine acres of land to build an access road in and out of the 81-acre development. Traffic was a main concern of opponents of the project. Con Edison, Boyce Thompson and a corporation called M and M own the three properties in question. The city is hoping this part of the project will stay out of court unlike other aspects of the retail development project that was plagued with lawsuits.
Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone says there will most likely be a negotiated price and sale of the pieces of property necessary to build the roadway system.
