A Yonkers community is heartbroken over the death of a little girl who barely made it to her first birthday.
Residents came to the Orchard Street apartment Saturday to grieve amid the teddy bears and signs left as a memorial to a baby named Heavon. Police say Heavon Bolton had just turned 1 Wednesday and that night she was brutally beaten at the hands of her father, 22-year-old Daryl Bolton. He is charged with second-degree murder.
According to police, the baby suffered severe internal injuries and several broken bones. Police say it wasn?t the first time the baby was physically abused. They say she also had suffered broken bones, ribs and a broken collar bone in the past.
While residents came to leave flowers at the makeshift memorial, many said Heavon is in a better place now.
