A church community in Yonkers had a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving after its building was miraculously spared from a fire.
Last month, St. John's Episcopal Church was dangerously close to catching fire when flames broke out at a building next door. Dozens of firefighters suffered injuries battling the blaze.
Nadine Burns-Lyons, the church's executive director, says the church's Thanksgiving dinner was on her mind even as she worried about the church building.
The Thanksgiving meal offered not only food, but friendship for those who would have otherwise spent the holiday alone.
