Thousands gathered for a fundraiser at the Parish Center at Saint Bartholomew's Church on Palmer Road in Yonkers Sunday to benefit the victims of a devastating fire that destroyed two homes over the holidays.
Several lawmakers kicked off the event, including Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone and State Senator Nick Spano. Organizers of the event say they hoped to raise $20,000 and they think they have met their goal.
It took more than 80 firefighters to battle the flames that displaced the four families, who are still living with relatives.
