A check for $18,500 was presented to the Yonkers-based AFYA Foundation at a fundraiser Thursday at the Yonkers Whiskey House.
The money will go toward much-needed medical supplies to Puerto Rico.
The nonprofit has made several trips to Puerto Rico and brought more than 100,000 pounds of supplies to the country.
A donation from the Yonkers Hispanic Cultural Foundation will go toward helping the elderly on the island.
The event was also a toy drive put together by the Westchester Hispanic Law Enforcement Association. All of the toys collected will be given to children displaced from the island who now call Yonkers home.
Owners of the Whiskey House donated $1,500 to the Westchester Hispanic Law Enforcement Association so it could purchase more toys.
