A Yonkers woman is mounting a comeback following a fatal fire in March that displaced residents and destroyed her art studio.
Connie Freid has been an artist for 20 years, dedicating her profession to perfecting figurative paintings and showing her work in art galleries.
A fire at 1 Hawley Terrage in March resulted in one man’s death, left dozens of people homeless and destroyed Freid's creations inside her studio.
While the studio may be gone, her work lives on in the kitchen of her apartment's community room.
“I have to leave when they have a party because they might use it, but so far not too many parties,” she says.
