The Yonkers actor accused in the murder of an NYPD officer is looking to be tried separately from his alleged accomplice.
Lillo Brancato Jr. and Steven Armento are charged with killing Officer Daniel Enchautegui. Police say the murder happened while the two were breaking into a house in the Bronx to look for drugs in December. Brancato?s attorney says his client did not know Armento had a gun that night and is pushing for a separate trial. Armento?s attorney does not want the two tried separately.
A spokesperson for the PBA says Brancato knew what he was doing that night during the break-in. All sides agree that Brancato?s celebrity status is getting in the way of the case.
