More than four months after breaking ground, construction is progressing on the old Boyce Thompson property in Yonkers.
Crews say they have made major progress on the multimillion-dollar makeover of the dilapidated property on Executive Boulevard.
They say they're almost finished with putting in a new roof and have started the mechanical, electric and plumbing work on the interior.
Developers say the easy thing to do would have been to start from scratch but they and city officials wanted to preserve this piece of history.
Once construction is complete, the graffiti-covered eyesore of a building that sat abandoned for 40 years will be transformed into a mixed-use complex.
The 85,000-square-foot space will be complete with medical offices, restaurants and retail stores.
