Town of Woodbury police are investigating a possible child luring incident that was reported Friday afternoon.
Authorities say it was reported to have happened on Phoenix Hill Road, at approximately 3:36 p.m., in Highland Mills.
The underage teen’s mother reached out to News 12 and provided a photo of the car that her daughter took – a silver-colored hatchback.
The woman says a male driver asked if the girl needed a ride and put out his hand out to try to give her something. She says her daughter reported the incident to a bus driver. The suspect is described as overweight, Latino, and with a small flag from Spain hanging from the rear-view mirror.
Police say they tried to find the driver after the incident was reported but couldn’t find the vehicle in the area. They say extra patrols are routinely assigned during school bus pick-up and drop-off times and that officers will continue to search for the vehicle.
