With just weeks until Santa shimmies down the chimney, a local mall plans to open stores on Thanksgiving Day.
Woodbury Common Premium Outlets is hoping for shopping success when stores open at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving. Its stores will stay open for more than 30 hours straight.
The outlet joins a growing list of retailers, like Wal-Mart, that open their doors on Thanksgiving Day. Woodbury Common says the change is meant to accommodate the demand from customers at one of Orange County's shopping meccas.
But some customers say the outlet is mistaken if it is counting on them lining up for sales. "I'm going to be home," says one resident. "Thanksgiving should be a family holiday," says another.
But plenty of other people are expected to shop at the outlet's more than 200 stores on Thanksgiving.
