Women’s History Month: Two inspiring coaches bring their love for the step culture to Mount Vernon

In honor of Women’s History Month, News 12 is honoring two local women who have had a passion for stepping since they were kids.
Ashley Davenport and Sierra Shepard, of Mount Vernon, teamed up to bring their love for the step culture to Amani Public Charter School where they founded a dynamic step team called the Amani Eagles Step team.
They recently won first place at the NYC 17th annual Youth Step Competition in Brooklyn.
News 12’s Ahsinet Scott-Brown sat down with the coaches and team to discuss their success and passion for the rich cultural heritage of step.
