A young woman was struck and killed by a train in northern Westchester Saturday morning at the Metro-North train station in the Purdys area of North Salem.
Police say the unidentified victim appears to have been a woman between 18 and 25 years old.
Investigators describe the incident as an apparent suicide, but add that they have not yet ruled out other possibilities, including foul play.
The train's engineer told police he watched her step off the platform and in front of the train as he was pulling into the station at around 9:45 a.m. There were few people around at the time, and there are no cameras at on the platform.
The incident caused Saturday morning delays, as the investigation saw northbound and southbound trains sharing one track.
