A woman was discovered floating in the lake at Rye Playland Saturday afternoon after police received a 911 call from a passerby.
The discovery was made just yards away from where many in the community gathered to watch a hockey game.
Investigators say the woman was in her 80s and is from out-of-state. They say she was staying with people in the area.
It was not immediately clear how long she was in the lake or how she got in the water.
Officials say there were no signs of foul play. Her car was found in the Playland parking lot.
The medical examiner will perform and autopsy to determine the cause of death.
