A 59-year-old Harriman-area woman died Wednesday morning when her car crashed into the woods and down an embankment.
Her name has not been released.
The crash happened on a curve on busy Route 17, just north of Tuxedo, shortly after 8:30 a.m.
After the car left the road, it went down a hill for about 100 yards and into a ravine.
Police say it appears as if the driver of the car never tried to stop.
While Route 17 remained open, the busy road was reduced to one lane in each direction. It was briefly closed when the car was removed from the woods.
