Temperatures in the region saw a double-digit increase over the last 24 hours, reaching near the freezing point of 32 degrees. As the week continues, temperatures are expected to remain above freezing and even get near normal by Wednesday.
Tonight, skies will be mostly cloudy, not as cold with light winds. Tuesday will be mostly cloudy, and a passing storm system to the north will trigger some scattered snow showers and a wintry mix for some. Snow accumulations are expected to be just trace amounts north of Westchester and Rockland counties.
Expect Wednesday to be the mildest day of the week, warming into the upper 30s or 40 degrees. Clouds will be present, alternating with breaks of sunshine throughout the week. Another cold front will move through on Wednesday morning, resulting in a daytime high temperature that occurs in the morning hours. Behind the front, manageable but colder air will enter the region, led by gusty winds near 30 MPH through the night.
Temperatures around the low to mid 30s will continue into the weekend. Valentine's Day will be dry and close to normal. We are keeping an eye on a southern system that could bring a snow and rain mix to the region Sunday evening into Monday.
