Some of the hottest restaurants in Yonkers are hoping to make a splash in a new competition.

The "Gen Y Cocktail Competition" kicks off tomorrow. As part of the event, bartenders from six participating restaurants will create "jazz-themed, specialty cocktails" that will be served at those establishments.

Business leaders joined Mayor Mike Spano at the Yonkers waterfront to announce the competition. "We're here to kick off a fun generation Yonkers competition, and to encourage more people, residents and visitors alike to dine on our beautiful waterfront, and we want people to experience our waterfront firsthand," says Spano.

The competition runs through Sept. 3 and will culminate with online voting to determine the "People's Choice Award" for best cocktail.
