The surgery technique used to repair Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers' Achilles tendon was developed by White Plains Hospital orthopedic surgeon Dr. James McWilliam.
The injury happened just over a week ago. Two days later, Rodgers underwent surgery that utilized McWilliam’s "Speed Bridge Technique".
The technique provides enhanced protection to the repaired tendon and enables quicker rehabilitation.
"You want to move the tendon, you want to get the tendon weight bearing and you want to get the muscle and tendon moving and this technique is strong enough to allow that and that's why patients are able to return to full activity faster," says Dr. McWilliam.
Unfortunately, Rodgers will not play again this season.
