A concert at White Plains High School Monday morning ushered in the school's annual Peace One Day celebration.
As part of the international movement, students formed a human peace sign on the school's front lawn. The event also saw many students and some faculty members wearing peace signs on T-shirts and even their faces.
The event was sponsored by the school's human rights class and club.
One student said that the first time the school observed Peace One Day, the war in Afghanistan was stopped and violence that day was reduced by 70 percent.
