Residents are using the 13th anniversary of Sept. 11 as a time to give back to the community.
A small army of volunteers took over the Westchester County Center Thursday to do their part in honoring the victims of the tragedy.
The group "Volunteer New York" helped connect nonprofit service groups with people who wanted to lend a helping hand.
The volunteers spent the day doing everything from making blankets for babies, crafts for kids and donating blood.
Nonprofits also set up booths where they collected items for the needy, including food, lamps and diapers.
The organizers of the event say they hope the spirit of giving that has been on display all day long continues throughout the rest of the year.
