One year after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the Westchester Red Cross is still helping in the recovery effort.
John Van Nostrand, of Yonkers, stated that he would never forget the images he saw while working as a Red Cross volunteer in Mississippi. Nostrand says that the organization is still part of the rebuilding efforts for the victims of Katrina.
The anniversary of Hurricane Katrina forces several to plan for the worst potential disasters in their communities. Nostrand stresses that everyone should have a plan in preparation for natural disasters.
