Westchester plans to turn former Avon headquarters into blood bank and research center

A New York Blood Center blood bank and research center is coming to Rye.

Westchester County's Local Development Corporation will finance the redevelopment of the former Avon headquarters on Midland Avenue. The site has been vacant for about four years.

Building renovations include improvements to its facade and creating clinical and research labs.

The $108 million project should take up to a year and a half to complete.

More than 120 construction jobs and 680 on-site jobs are expected to open up.
