Westchester County Board of Legislators Chairman Vedat Gashi hosted an Iftar dinner at the Upper Westchester Muslim Society Tuesday, marking Ramadan with a sunset meal to break the daily fast.
Gashi, the first Muslim chairman in Westchester history, welcomed legislators of all faiths, saying, "At a time when there's so much divisiveness … this is a positive message and an opportunity to come together."
Ramadan is a month of prayer and reflection for Muslims.
