Westchester house prices slowly coming back down to earth
The Westchester housing boom is apparently over with slowing sales and lower home prices.
According to the Westchester-Putnam Multiple Listing Service, for six months last year the median price of a single-family home was more than $700,000. That price was a record high for the county. The latest numbers out for the first quarter of 2006 show that the price is now about $650,000. And in Putnam County the median price is down 8.5 percent from last year, with the home prices around $375,000.
The listing shows that only condo sales are still growing strong in Westchester.
