A Westchester County teen has turned the inconvenience of seating arrangements into an easy fix - all with the tap of cellphone.
Austin Frankel is a senior at Blind Brook High School.
He also happens to be a coding whiz.
After seeing just how chaotic seating arrangements can be, he put his coding skills to work and created an app called Seat Maker.
The app is designed to help ease the stress of figuring out where to seat guests - just by using the contacts in one's cellphone.
The idea came to him after he attended an event and was unsuccessful trying to sit near his friends.
"I was at this youth organization, and I just remember it being like, 'The Hunger Games,' trying to get a seat. Everyone was running; no one knew where to sit, and it was insane just seeing everyone just run around a room. I wasn't able to sit with my friends, and it kind of ruined the entire meal," Frankle recalled.
The Seat Maker app is available for download through the Apple App Store.
