Westchester?s first responders spent hours training Tuesday for a disaster they hope will never happen.
Nine fire departments worked with new equipment from a specialized task force fire truck the county received thanks to a federal grant. The tools will help first responders locate and rescue survivors of a building collapse underneath rubble. The Special Operations Task Force, which conducted the training, says the tools and skills will only add to fire departments? knowledge of rescue techniques.
The task force has trained about 1,000 first responders since September 11th and they say that number continues to grow.
