Westchester County officials have added 23 unlicensed contractors to their black list in an attempt to crack down on renegade operators.
Home improvement complaints are at the top of the county consumer protection department's list. The total number of contractors to avoid, however, has decreased from previous inspections as a result of tougher licensing regulations.
"If you don't have a license, there's a good chance your truck may get seized,? says Consumer Protection Director Gary Brown. ?You can be fined thousands of dollars. Maybe they would be better off getting a license in the first place.?
