In an effort to resolve a legal dispute without litigation, Westchester County has initiated arbitration proceedings against Standard Amusements, the company managing Playland Park.
Standard Amusements is reportedly attempting to terminate its 30-year contract just three years into the agreement, citing the county's alleged failure to meet certain obligations.
Simultaneously, the county has urged Standard Amusements to start the transition process to guarantee that Playland Park can open for the upcoming summer season.
In response, a spokesperson for Standard Amusements stated that they have been pushing for this transition since November of the previous year and are welcoming the arbitration, implying that the county has not lived up to its contractual commitments without judicial oversight.
