Westchester County Executive George Latimer has presented his proposed fiscal budget for 2024, requesting $473.7 million in new appropriations for the coming year.
The budget allocates funds for investments in affordable housing, as well as for infrastructure improvements including bridges, roads, and flood mitigation.
Latimer has actively sought public input, holding an open session for comments on the budget.
"Last night, we had an open public session for those individuals who wanted to comment, for what they want to see us put into the 2024 budget. It's an innovation on a meeting we started years ago when I took office. And today we move forward with the release of the 2024 capital budget," he said.
This marks Latimer's sixth budget proposal, which will need approval from the Board of Legislators and the County Executive's signature by Jan. 1.
