Westchester County Executive George Latimer provided a coronavirus update from Mount Kisco today.
BRIEFING NOTES:
- There are 1,862 active cases of COVID-19 in the county
- 133,384 people have been tested
- 6 people have died in the past 24 hours from COVID-19
- The county has opened two beaches for the Memorial Day weekend
- The beaches will closed next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as the county reassesses if social distancing was followed
- Beachgoers do not have to wear masks while sitting on the beach. However, wearing a mask is required when walking around the property
- Only Westchester residents are allowed on Westchester beaches until NYC opens its beaches
- Beachgoers must socially distance themselves from other groups
- Bicycle Sundays isn’t taking place this weekend because of the holiday
- The July 3 and July 4 fireworks at Kenisco Dam are canceled this year
