Latimer: County beaches to close a few days after Memorial Day to reassess guidelines
Westchester County Executive George Latimer provided a coronavirus update from Mount Kisco today.
BRIEFING NOTES:
  • There are 1,862 active cases of COVID-19 in the county
  • 133,384 people have been tested
  • 6 people have died in the past 24 hours from COVID-19
  • The county has opened two beaches for the Memorial Day weekend
  • The beaches will closed next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as the county reassesses if social distancing was followed
  • Beachgoers do not have to wear masks while sitting on the beach. However, wearing a mask is required when walking around the property
  • Only Westchester residents are allowed on Westchester beaches until NYC opens its beaches
  • Beachgoers must socially distance themselves from other groups
  • Bicycle Sundays isn’t taking place this weekend because of the holiday
  • The July 3 and July 4 fireworks at Kenisco Dam are canceled  this year
