Westchester and Rockland executives sworn in for their new terms in office

The Westchester and Rockland county executives were sworn in Monday for their next terms in office.
In Westchester, County Executive George Latimer's second term in office officially got underway following a virtual inauguration.
State Sen. Charles Schumer, Attorney General Letitia James and Rep. Jamaal Bowman all joined the ceremony to wish Latimer well his next four years in office.
Latimer spoke about infrastructure projects, environment, COVID-19 preparedness, working across partisan lines and resiliency for the county.
Latimer defeated Republican challenger Christine Sculti in November's election.
In Rockland, Republican County Executive Ed Day was also sworn in for a third term in office.
The former police commander and legislator said his proudest achievements include beating the measles crisis, navigating through the pandemic and bringing Rockland out of a $138 million hole.
Day says he hopes to continue the economic progress Rockland County has made since he took office.
Day defeated Democrat challenger L'Tanya Watkins in last November's election.
