New 12’s Julian Seawright says a flood watch has been issued for the area as heavy rain from upcoming storms could bring 1-2 inches of precipitation, causing flood issues into Tuesday's morning commute. The work week started quietly and summer-like, but clouds will develop tonight when a low-pressure system moves around 10-11 p.m., bringing more rain and potential gusty storms. While scattered thunderstorms are expected overnight with lows near 70, Tuesday will see early rain showers and isolated storms, mainly in the morning, before a break in the rain in the afternoon allows highs to reach the low 80s.
TODAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy. Highs around 85. TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with rain developing, mainly after 10 p.m. Rain will be heavy at times overnight. An embedded thunderstorm with brief gusty winds cannot be ruled out. Scattered flooding possible. Most rain totals will be around 1 to 2 inches, but locally higher amounts are possible. The bulk of the rain ends by 5 a.m. Tuesday. Lows around 70.
TUESDAY: Rain ends mostly by 5 a.m. Minor flooding can linger through mid-morning. Spotty showers may linger a little, too. Clouds with some breaks of sun. A spotty thunderstorm is possible during the evening as well. Highs around 82 degrees. Lows near 67 degrees.
WEDNESDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 82. Lows near 68. THURSDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 85. Lows near 70. FRIDAY: Sun and clouds. Spotty shower or thunderstorm. Highs near 82. Lows around 62. SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs near 84. Lows around 67. SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs around 87. Lows near 68.
