And the spooky thing just continues in Yonkers because it's going to be a spectacular time there this weekend, getting closer and closer to Halloween. So we really got to get in the mood. It is the kick off weekend at the Hudson River Museum and Matt Hammer is taking weather on the road to tell us what you can do there. Good morning. Yeah. So, uh, this weekend is just jam packed of stuff you could do here at the museum. If you've never been, there's always something to do here, but especially this weekend, they have creepy crawly critters coming from the Greenberg Nature Center. We have so many activities here that can be done. And of course, this is the site of Glen View, which is on the National Register of Historic Places here across the Hudson Valley at home from the Gilded Age, which is packed with history here, uh, as well. So we'll be here all morning. We'll be talking with not only the CEO and the director of the Hudson River Museum coming up in the six o'clock hour, but we will also be heading inside in the six o'clock hour and a little bit later on this morning, we will show you the sights of inside the planetarium here. I mean, space weather has been such a topic recently uh across the lower Hudson Valley and across the globe and it's gonna be really cool to kind of see what you can come down and experience for yourself and check out all that. The night sky has to offer with their educational programs and their planetarium that they have here. And you can also check out that show this weekend as well. So Hollow weekend is both tomorrow and Sunday here at the museum from 11 to 5. And we have more information on how you can get tickets and uh get on down here in the actual order of events and all that good stuff. Uh, right here, uh, on our screen, it will be on News twelve.com as we go throughout the day as well. So much more about what's going on here throughout the morning right now, let's check out that forecast and I'll be the first one to tell you it's a bit of a cold start out here this morning. I mean, temperatures are actually in the forties. There's still a little bit of a breeze around. Now, as Alex mentioned a short time ago, the wind is calming down as we speak through the morning, but look at Western Orange County in Middletown around 31 degrees right now. It's a cold start there and, and pretty much throughout the day. It's going to look as nice as it's been these past many days, but it'll be a chill this morning that just gives way to kind of some seasonable temperatures into the afternoon. So, on our mood cast today, overall, smile worthy weather all throughout the Lower Hudson Valley have the sunglasses this morning. You'll need them for the afternoon as well. Temperatures will get into the fifties pretty much everywhere by mid to late morning and then during the afternoon will hit highs in the lower to middle sixties and for this time of the year, that's pretty seasonable for the lower Hudson Valley by this evening. And later on tonight, we have overnight temperatures dropping right back down into the mostly the middle forties. It won't be as chilly early tomorrow morning as it is outside right now. Expect a few more clouds around during the overnight wind pretty light, only around five miles hour or so. And then tomorrow is a nice start to the weekend, but you will notice more of a mix of sun and clouds. The wind is back in full force tomorrow with some gusts of near 30 MPH again, very similar day to yesterday. Here's the full weekend forecast in the 10 day for you. There's still really no threat of any sort of significant rain over the next 10 days next week. We also have another major warm up on the way starting next Wednesday. Through Thursday and Friday highs will be soaring right back up into the middle and upper seventies.

Now back to the city of Yonkers because there's also another event that you need to know about. It is the kickoff weekend for Hallow weekend at the Hudson River Museum and Matt Hammer is helping them kick it off with weather on the road today. Good morning. Yeah. So we're, we're here all morning, all day on news 12. You'll be able to see everything that the museum and Glenview has to offer and there is a jam packed weekend coming up. It is hollow weekend 2024. Joining me again, Masha Tinsy, uh the CEO and the director here and talk to me a little bit about the room that we are standing in right now. Oh, absolutely. So the Victorians really uh liked protocol. And so if you were a visitor here, you would have come here to the parlor where you might have been served. T you might have listened to a music concert. This would have been a place that you were greeted as a guest. Um I really love the works in this room in particular. There's a work behind me um by the artist Annalee Merritt. It's entitled pa uh Patri the patrician mother. I think it's very interesting. First of all, because it's by a woman, a woman portraitist, which wasn't common in the 19th century. And I also think it's intriguing for those book lovers out there. There is a bit of an association to the Scarlet Letter History and talk to me a little bit about that. I see on your website. There's so much educational info that even if you can't make it down to the museum, you can actually check out online and it talks a lot about the things that you can experience, not only in the museum but in Glenview as well. Oh, you're, you're so right. Uh Glenview is actually highly researched, get scholars and visitors all the time to see what it's like to live in the 19th century and to be able to document that because we've retained many of the original features. Uh but you can go on our website, Hr m.org and you'll be able to see tours, you'll be able to learn about the first family of Glenview, the Trevor family. Uh You'll be able to see Glenview through its many decades and this ho home is from 1877. So it's an incredible opportunity to come back, look in the past and understand how that this home fit in the ecosystem of New York today. And Hr m.org also where you can find out more about hollow weekend and how to get tickets and be part of the fun here this weekend. Let's focus on our local weather as well as we go throughout the rest of this Friday. I mean, it is a bit of a chilly start. There's a reason why I moved inside. Yes, to show you all the cool stuff they have in here, but also to warm up a little bit. Let's, let's be real as we take a look at our temperatures this morning, Western Orange County still stuck in the middle and upper twenties in middle town and even areas north of I 84 right now, it's a little bit better but still in the upper thirties and low forties throughout Westchester and Rockland counties at the moment. Here's a actually a hyperlocal view of Westchester County temperatures right now about 47 in Yonkers, a little bit chillier off to the North futurecast through the morning and into the afternoon, mostly clear all day. What else is new? This extremely dry stretch continues across the Hudson Valley and over these next couple of weeks, I would not be surprised if we enter an official drought by the time we get into even as early as next week. So we're about 7.5 inches below average in terms of rainfall since the start of September. So highs today right around the lower to middle sixties, a lot of sunshine, a beautiful day for outdoor activities, a little bit of a cool seasonable feel for sure. And, and as we head into overnight tonight, we're down into the middle and upper forties that also includes areas north of IED four. So it won't be as cold north and west as it is outside right now on this Friday morning, beautiful start to the weekend tomorrow. But you will notice the wind ramp up more again for Saturday over the extended stretch. It gets cool for Sunday and Monday in the fifties. But then we have a huge warm up on the way next week again with highs in the middle and upper seventies starting on Wednesday with dry weather continuing through all of next weekend.

And there are also some spooky things happening in Yonkers. It is kickoff weekend for Hollow weekend at the Hudson River Museum and Matt Hammer took his weather on the road this morning because he wanted to check out what we can expect for himself. Yeah. And you know, we could spend days at the Hudson River Museum and still not even see half of this place. There is so much to do, see and learn here. And if you go to their website, which we'll be talking about all day too, there are a lot of educational resources for teachers and ways that you can learn just on their website if you can't even make it down to the museum. But joining me again right now is Masha Tinsy, the CEO and director of the museum. So talk to us a little bit about the Red Grooms Bookstore, which we're in right now. Oh, absolutely. This is one of the most iconic works in the museum's collection. Uh Red Grooms was commissioned to make this incredible hybrid uh tribute to book lovers everywhere. On one side of the installation is then is the Mendoza bookstore, which was for the longest time, the longest running uh, second hand bookstore in the United States. And it's paired with the Pierrepont Library. JP Morgan's Library. So right here is an incredible tribute to book lovers of all kinds. Just one of the things you can see if you come down for Hollo weekend this weekend, both tomorrow and Sunday from 11 to 5. Talk to me a little bit about the events specifically going on this weekend. Ok. We really get into Halloween and Hollo weekend here at the Hudson River Museum. And so we're going to kick it off with creepy crawly critters. We're talking live stakes, spiders, lizards, and we're partnering with the Greenberg Nature Center. So this is a great opportunity to come do that. Uh, we're gonna pair that with some really fun in studio workshops. Um, so you're gonna have the chance to make some creepy Corley Critters and some spooky monsters. Um, and we're also for all ages, uh, a really cool shadow project. So you can walk away with your own shadow portrait and come dressed in costume. Right. Absolutely. Because on Sunday, we have a Halloween parade and of course, everyone, all kids who come get candy and for more information and tickets, where can people go? We want to talk about our weather too as we go throughout the rest of this Friday, we have a dry day starting and I mean, this is really going to be nice and dry through the afternoon again. We certainly, as we've been talking about for weeks now, desperately need some rain here across the Hudson Valley, but it's just not here just yet. So while we don't have any get out, enjoy the dry weather because we know we can't hold on to this type of weather forever. Right. As we go into the afternoon, highs in the lower to middle sixties, Yonkers Planner today showing those highs right around the low sixties this afternoon under a brilliant sunny and blue sky all throughout the Hudson Valley and a little bit less wind than yesterday. Now, that wind will pick up again into tomorrow. So today is kind of the lull between those windy days. So today's highs all throughout the Hudson Valley from the sound shorter north of I 84 mostly in the lower to middle sixties under a lot of sunshine and just a light breeze. And then by tonight, it is not going to be as cold or chilly as last night and early this morning, but just have a light jacket or sweatshirt into Saturday morning and tomorrow's overall a beautiful day, but the wind comes back with some gusts around 20 to 30 MPH as we go throughout the start of the weekend tomorrow. Now, in terms of the extended stretch, it actually gets even cooler for Sunday and Monday, this is every bit of roller coaster type temperatures over this 10 day where we had the summer like weather earlier this week. It's more seasonable. Now, we're heading to the fifties, Sunday and Monday. But then you can see those temperatures soaring right back up into the seventies from Wednesday through Friday next week and all the while, no rain still in sight right on through next weekend.

And now to even more spooky fun. It is Hollow Weekend at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers. Matt Hammer is taking weather on the road to get a look at how they are preparing for a lot of fun here. And I've been waiting for this part of the morning all morning. We are inside the planetarium that they have here joined by uh the CEO and director again, Masha Tinsy and thanks so much again for being with us. Talk to me a little bit about the significance of having a planetarium here at the museum. Oh, this is an amazing feature of the Hudson River Museum. I will say this is one place in our region where you do not need to worry at all about light pollution. Um Here we project in our all digital planetarium a about 20 million stars. Um And so every weekend we have shows at 1232 and 3:30 p.m. This weekend for in honor of Hollo weekend, we have a really special moment. We've got night frights at two o'clock and we're going to be exploring the dark recesses of the cosmos, black holes and nebula and liquid glass and everything that will creep you out for holiday Halloween weekend and, you know, with all of the night sky, cool things that have been going on recently between the auroras, the comets, the meteor showers. I mean, why not just dive into it at a place like this? That is so educational. You can learn a lot here at the museum. Oh, absolutely. I mean, is for all of us, right? Aren't we all interested in the cosmos and, and the skies above? And so we welcome visitors from, you know, from young to old. Everyone has an interest and, and can ask a question. That's the other great thing. When you come to a planetarium show at the Hudson River Museum, it's not only a chance to learn, but it's an, it's a, it's an opportunity to ask a question that you'd like to know about the stars above and you're seeing on screen right now, how you can get involved this weekend and how you can get tickets and come on down both tomorrow and Sunday. They have that special show for Hollow Weekend at two o'clock in the afternoon. So you can check that out. It's gonna be a great weekend of weather too. But why not come inside and do some learning as well as we go throughout this week and have some family fun. So as we take a look at our, our forecast from this point forward today, we are looking at a really, really nice Friday overall where we do have a, a mix of sunning clouds in a few spots but mostly clear for the overall into the afternoon with highs in the lower to middle sixties. Now, what will happen tonight and into tomorrow is there will be some more clouds that are moving back in. We'll have overall a mix sun and clouds into our Saturday tomorrow. Yonkers forecast for the rest of today. Highs in the lower sixties, a lot of sunshine, less wind than yesterday all throughout the Hudson Valley expect those highs to be pretty seasonable in the low sixties under that sunshine. Now tonight, while chilly will not be as cold as last night and early this morning with early morning temperatures on Saturday, mostly in the forties heading towards highs in the mid sixties tomorrow. But tomorrow, we also get the wind back in a big way. Gusts will be around 20 to 30 MPH again. And that also with all the dry conditions we've had recently does enhance the wildfire spread risk. So any fire that starts tomorrow could spread rapidly with the dry conditions and those gustier winds. So you have to use extreme caution around open flame and of course, uh get rid of that open flame safely. Here's the extended 10 day forecast cooler for Sunday and Monday in the fifties, big warm up with highs returning to the seventies by next Wednesday and right on through the end of the week, it'll stay pretty warm with no much needed rain in sight. Right on through next weekend.
