Residents in Westchester and the Hudson Valley are reacting Friday to Daniel Schuler, who spoke out in defense of his wife Diane Thursday, and the toxicology reports stating she was drunk and high at the time of the fatal Taconic crash.
Schuler stated that his wife was acting normal when the family left Hunter Lake Campground nearly two weeks ago. However, toxicology reports confirm that Diane drank at least 10 shots of vodka and smoked marijuana before she drove the wrong way on the Taconic State Parkway.
Schuler says his wife's behavior rooted from medical conditions, specifically an abscessed tooth, gestational diabetes and a lump on her leg. An autopsy revealed that Diane did not die from medical conditions such as a stroke or heart failure.
Some residents find it hard to believe Daniel's claim, while others are sympathetic of his tragic loss.
