Water was starting to come back on for residents who were impacted by a water main break as of Thursday night.

Utility crews in Yonkers say the cause of a water main break was a leaking pipe.

It happened Thursday morning around 6 a.m. near 85 Riverdale Ave.

The entire situation left hundreds of people in the area without water.

News 12's Lisa La Rocca's noon report on the water main break in Yonkers.

"We need help, there is no water," says Yonkers resident Denise Staton.

Many neighbors had to turn to fire hydrants for relief.

"It's very bad because we had no notice of it, and it just happened. We just have to do what we can do to survive," says Yonkers resident Cynthia.

City officials brought cases of bottled water to people in the area. They also put a water tanker on the block.
