A new memorial honoring the service and sacrifice of local veterans is coming to Veterans Memorial Park in the Village of Warwick.
New York State Sen. James Skoufis announced Monday before a crowd of local veterans, elected officials and community members that he secured $734,500 in state funding for Patriot’s Path, a new 10-foot-wide brick walkway planned for Veterans Memorial Park.
“The Village of Warwick is rich in history, and I am proud to help them preserve and memorialize the bravery and service of our local veterans,” Skoufis said. “Memorials like Patriot’s Path foster civic gratitude and unity, and this investment will enrich this community for generations to come.”
The pathway will wind through Veterans Memorial Park, with each section representing a different era of military conflict and Warwick’s connection to those periods. Village officials say local veterans helped shape the project alongside members of the Patriot’s Path Task Force, Town Historian Sue Gardner and Warwick Valley High School history students, who researched the historical time periods featured along the path.
