As graduation season quickly approaches in the Hudson Valley, ongoing strict state rules about ceremonies are being criticized, now that guidelines have relaxed for other large venues like amusement parks and professional sports games.
Parents and students in Warwick say they are upset that the district is planning on separating graduates among three separate ceremonies in order to meet New York's guidelines allowing 200 people outdoors at a time.
The state released guidance last month with a host of requirements for in-person graduations.
Critics say the rules are unfair, especially now that the state has rolled back on restrictions elsewhere.
Warwick School Superintendent David Leach says he agrees with parents and is equally frustrated.
