The village of Wappingers Falls has entered the HGTV's Home Town Takeover contest in the hope of getting a new look.
Ben and Erin Napier has launched the national competition to makeover an entire town for a special season - and Wappingers Falls has been doing everything they can to get their attention.
The community has suffered from massive fires throughout the last decade. While members of the community say the village is in the process of recovering, many believe winning the contest would be an added boost.
"It was festival at the falls when the fire erupted three years ago. It was Thanksgiving morning when the building over here collapsed. So, we sort of get these sucker punches and we're just looking for help to take us across the goal line with some of these projects that we're working on," says cofounder of Wappingers Rises Courtney Kolb.
News 12 is told contest submissions end on Feb. 7, but there is no clarity on when the winner will be announced
