A long-awaited tunnel project connecting two shopping centers in Orange County is now complete.

"Wallkill Winning Way" opened to traffic on Friday with officials there to dedicate the road.

The multimillion-dollar tunnel under Route 17 allows drivers to bypass busy Route 211 to get between the Galleria Mall and the Dunning Shopping Center.

"I think it will revolutionize the way people drive in this area, the way people shop in this area and will help us further grow our town to be one of the best in the country," says Wallkill Town Supervisor Dan Depew.

The project has been in the works for more than a decade and was paid for by the state.
