A former high school football coach from Wallkill will be honoring his father this month during the 5K cancer fundraiser at Yankee Stadium.
Tony Truscello, 64, grew up going to Yankees games with his dad, Joseph. The former Beacon High School football coach, who still teaches science at the middle school, lost his father in 1994 to lung cancer.
Twenty-four years later, he has raised $1,500 and recruited dozens to walk with him during the 10th Annual Runyon 5K at Yankee Stadium. All funds raised directly support innovative cancer research.
"I'm just overwhelmed by the amount of support and people coming out, making donations," said Truscello.
Anyone who wishes to donate to Tony’s team can do so at the Runyon website. The 5K is being held on April 15.
