Wallkill man faces 10 years in prison for shooting girlfriend

Wallkill man faces 10 years in prison for shooting girlfriend

Joseph Lightfoot,18, of Wallkill, faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon for shooting his girlfriend during a fight in April.

According to police, Lightfoot got into an altercation with a man in Walden and attempted to shoot him, but instead hit his girlfriend in the wrist.

The woman was treated at the hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Lightfoot's sentencing is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
