A Wallkill High School football player died after practice on Monday
School officials say Miguel Lugo, 17, collapsed after the first day of practice. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The cause of death has not been determined yet.
A GoFundMe page has already raised over $26,000 for his funeral. On the page a family member wrote, in part, "He was a vibrant and healthy boy who lit up any room that he walked in. Now his family is left here to wonder why. Why Miguel. He had a heart of gold and anyone who knew him loved him dearly."
Grief counselors are available at the high school for students and staff.
