A memorial service was held Tuesday for the 3-year-old Bronx boy who prosecutors say was beaten to death by his stepgrandfather.
The memorial for Poseidon Quinones was held at the Ortiz Funeral Home in Castle Hill.
The toddler was found unconscious on Nov. 15 and was later pronounced dead at Lincoln Medical Center.
Fernando Yensi, 33, has been charged with manslaughter. Prosecutors accuse Yensi of beating the boy and causing the injuries that led to the boy's death. Yensi pleaded not guilty.
Yensi is married to Quinones' paternal grandmother, Madeline Yensi.
Family and friends say Quinones was an energetic and happy toddler.
Quinones' parents are now calling for justice. Quinones' mother Ashley Ramirez said she begged the Administration for Children's Services not to give custody of Quinones to Madeline Yensi.
Family and friends will gather for Quinones' funeral on Wednesday.
