Several West Point cadets were in Chappaqua Sunday to help build affordable housing.
The homes are the first affordable housing being built in Chappaqua since a settlement with an advocacy group where the county agreed to take steps to promote fair housing.
The cadets are volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to turn a large home into two condos.
Jim Killoran, of Habitat for Humanity, says having the cadets helps get the job done quickly.
"The can blow out a house and gut it out in a day and that's why we know when they come, they are trained to go and hit the ground running," he says.
Nine counties will be part of the selection process that will be based on family size and corresponding incomes ranging from $76,000 to $104,000.
