The Village of Ardsley held its inaugural Ramadan and Eid celebration on Friday night.

The celebration kicked off at Legion Park with a lighting of a crescent moon.

The community gathered inside the Ardsley Community Center for refreshments and desserts, arts and crafts, "Eidi" candy for kids and henna tattoos.

Ramadan is celebrated as the month in which the prophet Mohammed received the first of the revelations that make up the Quran.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast during daylight hours.
