A Jersey City restaurant held a vigil Sunday night for the two New Jersey residents who died in last week’s roof collapse at a Dominican Republic nightclub.
As of Sunday night, the death toll stands at 226 and 200 injured.
The two New Jersey victims were identified as Antonia Ignacio Douglas, from Perth Amboy, and Jennifer Contreras, from Passaic.
Ignacio, who was known as Violeta, ran a hair salon in Perth Amboy. Her son wrote on GoFundMe that Violeta was in the Dominican Republic on vacation.
According to Rep. Josh Gottheimer, Contreras was 24 and celebrating her birthday.
Her brother wrote on GoFundMe that Jennifer was also abroad to complete a certification class as she was starting a beauty business.
Officials have said it is too soon to know why the roof at the popular Jet Set nightclub collapsed.
