Friends and family gathered in Mount Vernon on Monday night to mourn a DPW worker who was fatally stabbed on Friday.
Chinyelu Browne's mother organized the vigil, and the city blocked off the street during the event.
People who worked with him attended the vigil, along with people who didn't even know him, including the mayor.
They released balloons for Browne, alongside of the photos, messages of love and candles to remember him.
Browne died at Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital.
The man arrested in Browne's death, Carlton Naughton, remains in jail as he awaits bail.
The mayor and DPW commissioner spoke to the crowd, and his mom briefly thanked everyone coming out before she couldn't go on.
His former supervisor at DPW called him a great guy.
