A Mount Vernon man is facing a misdemeanor charge after he was accused of abusing a dog in Yonkers.
A video allegedly shows Anthoin McPherson picking up a pit bull and throwing the dog into a closed roll-down storefront gate.
Yonkers police also released additional video that also appears to show McPherson hitting the dog with a belt in a stairway.
Police say the incident happened Wednesday morning at the corner of Ridge Avenue and Fairview Street in Yonkers.
Yonkers police and Westchester SPCA Humane Law Enforcement say they used surveillance video to track down McPherson and make an arrest.
Police say Maximus, an 8-month-old pit bull, has been turned over to the SPCA of Westchester.
McPherson has been released with an appearance ticket awaiting arraignment at a later date.
Police say people can report animal cruelty confidentially by calling the Westchester SPCA hotline at 914-941-7797.
