News 12 is learning new information in a violent attack on two men in Poughkeepsie – one who remains in critical condition.
Authorities arrested a third suspect as a new witness video shows one of the first officers on the scene.
Exclusive witness video shows a police officer with their gun drawn and people with their hands up pointing toward a bloodied victim and a suspect.
As we reported, Poughkeepsie police say two men were run over on Sunday and then violently attacked by several suspects in the middle of the day on Maple Street.
Poughkeepsie police now say a man seen wielding a firearm in the middle of the street was a good Samaritan who saw the victims being strangled, stabbed and beaten with a baseball bat, and came out to help.
They say he held the suspects on the scene until police could arrive.
Authorities now say three men, Rakim Paulin, Jeremy Taylor and Misael Nieves-Pavon, have been charged with assault in the vicious attacks.
People in the area are too afraid to speak on camera but one woman News 12 spoke to said her 6-year-old daughter was outside when it happened.
Police say the second victim was treated and released from the hospital. They have not released a motive.
The attacks remain under investigation and officials are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward with information about what they saw.
